16-inch FHD+ laptop for home users

The Dell Inspiron 16 5620 pairs a 12th Generation Intel Core i7-1255U processor with an NVIDIA GeForce MX570 graphics card. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4-3200 memory and a 1 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 solid-state drive. Windows 11 Home comes pre-installed on the 16.0 inch anti-glare display with 1920 x 1200 resolution and ComfortView support.

Fan profile and battery life

The 10-core processor runs at up to 4.7 GHz inside a chassis measuring 14.05 x 9.92 x 0.72 inches and weighing 4.12 pounds. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 handle wireless connectivity without a dedicated Ethernet port. Thermal behaviour and acoustic output will vary with workload intensity and ambient temperature.

Port selection and upgrade limits

Two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Type-C port, one HDMI output and a headset jack provide the physical interfaces. The supplier notes memory can be expanded to 64 GB and storage to 2 TB, so buyers who want more storage or memory headroom than the factory configuration should verify compatibility before purchase. The non-touch WVA panel offers 250 nits brightness in a natural silver finish.

Questions about this item

How do I install additional RAM in the Inspiron 16 5620, and which slot is often overlooked?

Remove the bottom cover, locate the single SODIMM slot beside the soldered 8 GB, and insert a DDR4-3200 module up to 64 GB total; the hidden slot under the cover is the step many miss.

What maintenance or replacement will the 1 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD need later?

The drive has no moving parts, so only a future capacity upgrade may be needed; swap it for a larger M.2 NVMe SSD when the 1 TB fills up.

Which limit appears first during sustained loads on the i7-1255U and MX570?

The shared thermal envelope of the thin 0.72 in chassis causes CPU and GPU clocks to throttle together before either component hits its own ceiling.
