Dell Inspiron 16 5620 overview

This 16.0 inch laptop runs a 12th Generation Intel Core i7-1255U processor with 10 cores and a 4.7 GHz boost clock. It includes 64 GB of DDR4-3200 memory and a 1 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. The NVIDIA GeForce MX570 GPU drives a 1920 x 1200 FHD+ anti-glare display. Windows 11 Home is pre-installed.

Suited for multitasking and light creative work

The 64 GB RAM and 10-core CPU handle heavy browser loads, office suites and moderate photo or video editing. Buyers who want high-refresh gaming or sustained 3D rendering should look at a system with a higher-tier discrete GPU. The non-touch screen and 250 nits brightness limit outdoor or colour-critical use.

64 GB DDR4-3200 memory decides fit

This capacity is soldered and not user-expandable, so the purchase must match the workload for the laptop's lifetime. The single 1 TB NVMe SSD slot can be swapped for a larger drive if more local storage is needed. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 provide modern wireless connectivity.

Questions about this item

How much DDR4-3200 memory can the laptop accept if I want to upgrade later?

The board is already populated with 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM, which matches the maximum capacity listed for this model, so no further memory upgrade is possible.

What thermal ceiling will the Core i7-1255U hit first during long rendering sessions?

The 10-core i7-1255U is rated to boost up to 4.7 GHz, but sustained all-core loads will be limited by the cooling solution in the 0.72 in chassis before the processor reaches its maximum turbo frequency.

How loud do the fans get when the MX570 and CPU run flat-out for hours?

Under continuous heavy load the dual-fan system spins up to move heat from the i7-1255U and GeForce MX570 through the thin 0.72 in profile, producing a noticeable but not intrusive airflow sound in a quiet room.
