Replacement bottom cover assembly with battery latch and rubber feet for Inspiron 3420 laptops
This genuine Dell bottom cover assembly (part DT877) fits the Inspiron 3420 chassis. It restores the structural lower shell of the laptop when the original is cracked or missing. The part ships in black and includes the battery latch and rubber feet already installed.
As a passive plastic and metal chassis piece, the cover adds no thermal load, fan noise or electrical consumption. It simply replaces the factory base so the existing cooling vents and internal layout remain unchanged. Normal operation stays exactly as Dell engineered it.
The assembly maintains rigid support for the motherboard, battery and drive bays during continuous use. Because it replicates the OEM design, screw posts and latch points stay aligned through repeated heating and cooling cycles. Buyers needing a different colour, a palm-rest assembly or a complete top case will not find those items here.

Remove all screws from the old base, swap the assembly, then reattach every screw; the step often missed is pressing each rubber foot firmly so the adhesive bonds before the laptop is turned over.
The rubber feet can wear smooth or peel off; replace them when they no longer grip the desk, and clean the battery latch if debris stops it from clicking shut.
The plastic mounting tabs can crack if the chassis flexes repeatedly, so the structural integrity of the cover itself is the first limit under heavy daily handling.
