Target audience

The Dell Inspiron 3520 15 is a new 15.6 inch laptop with a Full HD touchscreen, Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor and 16GB DDR4 memory. It suits students and office workers who want a responsive Windows 11 Pro device for everyday productivity and media consumption.

Sustained workload behaviour

The quad-core processor reaches a 4.2 GHz turbo frequency for short bursts, while the integrated Intel UHD Graphics shares system memory during extended sessions. Under continuous load the 512GB PCIe SSD maintains steady read and write speeds without thermal throttling affecting storage performance.

Thermals noise and power

The slim chassis measures 14.11 by 9.27 by 0.83 inches and weighs 3.82 pounds, limiting cooling capacity during prolonged heavy use. Fan noise becomes noticeable when all four cores sustain high clocks, and the 720p webcam and Wi-Fi 5 adapter add minimal extra heat in normal operation.

Questions about this item

How much power does the Core i5-1135G7 draw when the laptop runs all day?

The Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor operates at a 2.40 GHz base frequency and can reach 4.20 GHz turbo, with 4 cores and 8 threads managing workloads efficiently during extended use.

Which cables and peripherals must I already own to use the ports on this Inspiron 3520?

The laptop provides 2x USB 3.2 Type A ports, 1x USB 2.0 Type A port, 1x HDMI output, a headphone jack and a multi-format SD card reader for existing devices.

Will an older USB 2.0 external drive work reliably alongside the newer USB 3.2 ports on this machine?

Yes, the single USB 2.0 Type A port and two USB 3.2 Type A ports all accept legacy USB 2.0 drives, so older storage connects without adapters.
