16-inch FHD+ Touch Laptop

The Dell Inspiron 5640 is a 16-inch laptop with a 1920 x 1200 touchscreen, Intel Core 7 150U processor, 32 GB DDR5 5200 memory and a 512 GB NVMe SSD. It ships with Windows 11 Pro, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and an ice-blue backlit keyboard with fingerprint reader.

Who this suits

Professionals and students who want a large touch display, 32 GB of DDR5 memory and Windows 11 Pro in a silver chassis will find the specification matches their workflow. Buyers who need discrete graphics, more than 512 GB of storage or a higher-wattage CPU should look elsewhere.

Deciding specification

The Intel UHD integrated graphics engine is the single component that determines whether this laptop fits your workload; it handles office applications and media playback but cannot accelerate modern 3D titles or GPU compute tasks.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 32 GB DDR5 5200 MHz configuration or the 64 GB DDR5 5600 MHz option?

This model ships with 32 GB DDR5 5200 MHz soldered; the 64 GB DDR5 5600 MHz figure is a platform maximum, not a selectable variant.

What does the 5.4 GHz boost clock on the Intel Core 7 150U mean for everyday workloads?

The 10-core, 12-thread processor can reach 5.4 GHz on light bursts, giving snappy responsiveness in office apps and web browsing while staying within its low-power envelope.

What does the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port actually cap at for data and display?

The single USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C runs at 10 Gbps for data and carries DisplayPort Alt Mode for external monitors; the two Type-A ports are limited to 5 Gbps.
