Dell Inspiron 7640 laptop specification

The Dell Inspiron 7640 is a 16.0 inch laptop built around an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor with 16 cores and a 4.8 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 40GB of memory and a 2304GB SSD. Graphics are handled by a dedicated Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU with 8GB GDDR6. The display is a non-touch QHD+ panel at 2560 x 1600 resolution. Windows 11 Home is preinstalled.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This configuration suits buyers who want a large 16.0 inch QHD+ screen, 40GB of memory and a dedicated RTX 4060 GPU in a blue chassis. It is not for buyers who need a touchscreen display. It is not for buyers who require a higher GPU tier than the RTX 4060. It is not for buyers who want a different colour option.

Specification that decides fit

The single specification that decides fit is the 40GB memory capacity paired with the 2304GB SSD and RTX 4060 8GB GDDR6. This combination fixes the working set for content creation and gaming at this tier. If the workload demands more memory or a larger SSD, this unit will not meet the requirement.

Questions about this item

What wireless standard does the laptop use, and what speed limit does it set in practice?

The 802.11ac Wi-Fi caps real-world throughput below the router's maximum, so large file transfers run at the adapter's ceiling rather than the network's.

What physical space is required inside the chassis for the storage drive?

The 2304 GB SSD occupies a single internal slot; no 2.5-inch bay or second M.2 socket is present for extra drives.

How is the memory installed, and which step do buyers often miss?

The 40 GB of RAM is soldered to the motherboard, so there are no modules to seat and no upgrade path after purchase.
