Dell KPM5XMUG400G 400GB SAS SSD

This 2.5-inch enterprise SSD delivers 400GB of capacity over a 12Gbps SAS interface using write-intensive TLC flash. It is built for Dell PowerEdge servers and storage arrays that require consistent write performance in a compact form factor. The drive is supplied new with updated firmware. ||

Suited for write-heavy workloads

The write-intensive endurance rating makes this drive a match for logging, caching, database journals and similar workloads that sustain high write throughput. It is not suited for read-centric archives, cold storage tiers or capacity-focused deployments where a read-intensive drive would lower cost per gigabyte. Systems without a 12Gbps SAS backplane or controller cannot use the full interface speed. ||

12Gbps SAS interface

The single specification that decides fitment is the 12Gbps SAS interface; the host must provide a compatible SAS backplane, HBA or RAID controller to operate the drive at its rated link speed.

Questions about this item

What is the SAS interface speed of the Dell KPM5XMUG400G WGP72-CP3 400GB enterprise SSD?

The drive uses a 12Gbps SAS interface, which caps the maximum theoretical throughput at 12 gigabits per second.

What physical drive bay size does the Dell KPM5XMUG400G WGP72-CP3 400GB enterprise SSD require?

The SSD uses a standard 2.5 inch form factor and fits any 2.5 inch SAS drive bay in the compatible PowerEdge servers listed.

How do I install the Dell KPM5XMUG400G WGP72-CP3 400GB enterprise SSD in a Dell PowerEdge server, and what step is often missed?

Slide the drive into an empty 2.5 inch SAS bay until the carrier clicks and the latch locks; the step often missed is fully engaging the latch so the drive seats on the backplane connector.
