Business laptop for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 14-7490 is a 14-inch Windows 10 Pro notebook built for everyday office work. A quad-core i7-8650U processor running at 1.90GHz with 8MB cache drives the system. 32GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB SATA SSD provide the main resources. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics handles the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display.

32GB memory and 512GB SSD capacity

The 32GB DDR4 configuration matches the maximum memory supported, so no further RAM upgrades are possible. This capacity handles heavy multitasking and large documents comfortably. The 512GB SATA solid-state drive offers fast boot and load times for the operating system and applications. Storage headroom runs out when local media libraries or virtual-machine images exceed the remaining free space.

SATA interface and display limits

The SATA SSD interface caps sequential transfer speeds below those of PCIe alternatives, affecting large file copies. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics relies on system memory and suits 2D productivity, video playback and light creative tasks. It cannot drive demanding 3D workloads or multiple high-resolution external monitors. The single HDMI port supports one additional screen at 1080p resolution.

Questions about this item

Will the 14-inch 1920 x 1080 screen work with my older VGA projector?

The laptop has one HDMI port; a separate HDMI-to-VGA adapter is required to connect to a VGA projector.

How can I confirm the i7-8650U and 32GB DDR4 are running correctly after setup?

Open Task Manager > Performance to verify four cores at 1.90GHz and 32GB memory, then run Windows Update for drivers.

What comes in the box and what must I buy separately?

The laptop, Windows 10 Pro licence, and power adapter are included; external monitors, adapters, or a carrying case are sold separately.
