Ready-to-work 13.9" business laptop

The DELL Latitude 3490 ships new with Windows 11 Pro, a 13.9" FHD panel at 1920 x 1080 and a 60 Hz refresh rate. An Intel Core i3-8130U at 2.20 GHz drives daily workloads, while 32 GB of memory and a 256 GB NVMe drive keep multitasking and boot times snappy. Non-touch display suits traditional keyboard-and-mouse users.

Thermals, noise and power

Integrated graphics and a low-power U-series processor limit heat output during typical office tasks, web browsing and video playback. Fan activity stays quiet under light loads and ramps only when sustained CPU work occurs. The included AC adapter supplies sufficient power for the platform without excess capacity.

32 GB soldered memory ceiling

Memory is fixed at 32 GB with no expansion slots, so buyers who need more RAM must choose a different system. Storage sits on a single NVMe drive that can be swapped for a larger unit if 256 GB proves tight. Three USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit LAN, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 cover standard connectivity needs.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256 GB NVMe drive in this Latitude 3490, and what step do people miss?

The laptop ships with the 256 GB NVMe already installed. The step people miss is enabling the NVMe boot option in BIOS after a clean Windows 11 Pro install so the drive appears as a boot device.

What maintenance will the 32 GB memory and 256 GB NVMe need later?

The 32 GB RAM is soldered and not upgradeable. The 256 GB NVMe can be replaced with a larger NVMe drive if more storage is needed, but no scheduled maintenance is required for either component.

Which limit appears first during sustained use — the 60 Hz display, Wi-Fi 6, or the i3-8130U processor?

The i3-8130U processor reaches its thermal ceiling first under prolonged load, causing clock-speed reduction before the 60 Hz panel or Wi-Fi 6 connection become limiting factors.
