Purpose-built business laptop

The Dell Latitude 5420 is a 14.0 inch notebook designed for office professionals who need a durable, managed Windows device. It ships with Windows 10 Home and includes a TPM 1.2 security chip for basic hardware encryption. The integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics drive the 1366 x 768 LED display for standard productivity tasks.

Straightforward maintenance access

The 2.5 inch SATA hard drive and DDR3 memory slots are reachable through a single bottom panel, so storage or RAM upgrades require only a small screwdriver. The optical DVD-RW drive uses a tool-less latch but its slim tray can jam if discs are inserted off-centre. Wi-Fi relies on the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 card, which may need a driver refresh after a clean OS install.

Dual-core i7 with 4 GB DDR3

The processor is a 2.20 GHz Intel Core i7 2nd Gen dual-core chip with 6 MB L3 cache, paired with only 4 GB of DDR3 memory. That combination handles light multitasking but will bottleneck heavier workloads or modern web apps. Buyers who need more memory headroom or snappier storage response should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the Intel Core i7 2.20GHz processor is running correctly after setup?

Open Task Manager and confirm the CPU shows 2 cores, 4 threads and a base speed of 2.20 GHz; run Windows Update so the integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics driver installs automatically.

What accessories are included in the box and what must be purchased separately?

The laptop, power adapter and Windows 10 Home licence are included; no recovery media, external optical drive or carrying case are supplied.

Should I choose the 4 GB DDR3 / 500 GB HDD version or upgrade to 16 GB RAM and an SSD?

The 4 GB / 500 GB HDD configuration handles everyday office tasks; selecting 16 GB DDR3 and a 2.5" SATA SSD will improve multitasking and boot speed for heavier workloads.
