Thin-and-light enterprise laptop

The Dell Latitude 5420 pairs an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1145G7 quad-core processor with 16GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB NVMe PCIe drive. It targets professionals who need responsive multitasking and fast local storage in a 14-inch chassis that runs Windows 10 Pro out of the box.

Dual Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI 2.0

Two Thunderbolt 4 ports with DisplayPort Alt Mode and Power Delivery sit alongside HDMI 2.0, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and Gigabit Ethernet. This I/O array drives up to two 4K external displays or one 8K panel while leaving legacy peripherals connected, so the laptop becomes a compact dock without extra adapters.

1TB NVMe headroom for active projects

The 1TB PCIe SSD absorbs large working sets — VMs, media libraries, code repositories — without the latency of a spinning drive. Integrated Iris Xe graphics handles desktop composition and light creative tasks, but sustained 3D workloads or GPU compute will exceed the shared-memory architecture.

Questions about this item

How quickly does the 2.6 GHz Core i5-1145G7 hit its thermal ceiling when all four cores are fully loaded?

The quad-core Tiger Lake processor runs at 2.6 GHz base frequency with 8 MB cache; sustained multi-core workloads will push the chip to its thermal limit and trigger frequency scaling once the cooling solution saturates.

What are the fan noise and surface temperatures like after the laptop has been running flat-out for several hours?

Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and dual Thunderbolt 4 ports share the chassis; prolonged heavy loads raise internal temperatures, causing the fan to spin audibly while the keyboard deck and bottom panel become warm to the touch.

Which dock or monitor cables must I already own to drive two external 4K displays from this unit?

Dual Thunderbolt 4 ports with DisplayPort Alt Mode and one HDMI 2.0 port provide the video outputs; you need Thunderbolt 4 or USB-C DisplayPort cables for the Thunderbolt ports and a standard HDMI cable for the HDMI port.
