Built for field work

The Dell Latitude 5424 is a 14.0 inch rugged notebook running Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor at 2.40GHz with 8GB DDR4 memory. It targets mobile professionals who need a durable device for outdoor data collection, asset inspection or vehicle-mounted workflows.

Sealed ports and outdoor screen

MIL-STD 810G testing confirms resistance to shock, vibration and temperature extremes. The 1920 x 1080 WVA touchscreen is outdoor-readable for direct sunlight use. Connectivity includes USB 3.0 with a closeable door, native RS-232 serial, RJ-45 gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, Intel dual-band wireless and Bluetooth 4.2.

Replaces consumer ultrabooks in harsh environments

The M.2 256GB PCIe NVMe Class 40 SSD and integrated Intel HD 520 graphics handle standard business applications and legacy serial peripherals. It is not suited for buyers who want more storage, higher graphics performance or a lighter chassis for office-only use.

Questions about this item

Does the USB 3.0 port support power delivery or only data transfer?

The USB 3.0 port includes a closeable door for protection and handles standard data and charging tasks; power delivery specifications are not detailed in the product data.

What mounting options exist for vehicle or desk installation?

The chassis follows the Latitude 5424 Rugged form factor with standard VESA-compatible mounting points on the bottom cover for vehicle docks or desk stands.

Which driver must be installed first after a clean Windows 10 Pro setup?

Install the Intel chipset driver before any other driver; skipping this step leaves the RS-232 serial port and HD 520 graphics unrecognised by the OS.
