Rugged 14" touchscreen for field work

The Dell Latitude 5424 Rugged laptop is built for professionals who need a durable 14.0" FHD display that remains readable outdoors. Its Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor runs at 2.40GHz with 8GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB PCIe NVMe Class 40 drive. Windows 10 Pro and a webcam complete the secure mobile workstation package.

Sustained performance with managed thermals

The 6th Generation Intel Core i5-6300U delivers consistent operation under load thanks to rugged thermal engineering tested to MIL-STD 810G standards. Intel HD 520 graphics handle visual tasks while the NVMe solid-state drive maintains throughput without mechanical latency. vPro extensions allow remote management during extended deployments.

Sealed ports and versatile mounting

USB 3.0 ports feature closeable doors alongside a native RS-232 serial port, RJ-45 gigabit Ethernet and HDMI output for legacy and modern peripherals. Bluetooth 4.2 and Intel dual-band wireless provide cable-free connectivity. The chassis design resists dust and moisture ingress for reliable daily operation in harsh environments.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Latitude 5424 get when the Intel Core i5-6300U runs at 2.40GHz all day?

The MIL-STD 810G tested chassis and Intel HD 520 graphics are built for continuous field use, keeping thermals stable during extended workloads.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to use the native RS-232 serial port and RJ-45 gigabit Ethernet?

You need a standard DB-9 serial cable for the RS-232 port and a Cat5e or Cat6 patch cord for the RJ-45 connector.

Will the USB 3.0 ports and HDMI output work with my older USB 2.0 drives and 1080p monitors?

Yes, USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices, and HDMI drives 1920 x 1080 displays without adapters.
