Built for mobile professionals

The Latitude 5480 is a 14-inch business laptop powered by a dual-core Intel Core i5-7300U processor running at 2.6 GHz. It comes with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB NVMe PCIe M.2 solid-state drive. The 1366 x 768 HD display is non-touch, and graphics are handled by integrated Intel HD Graphics 620. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed, making it ready for office tasks and travel.

Thermals and power in daily use

The low-voltage U-series processor is designed for efficiency, helping to extend battery runtime during typical workloads. Integrated graphics keep heat output modest when handling documents, web browsing or video playback. Fan activity stays quiet under light loads, though sustained heavy tasks will raise temperatures and fan speed. The 256 GB NVMe drive consumes less power than a mechanical drive, further supporting mobile use.

Ports and accessories included

A single USB-C port doubles as a DisplayPort output for external monitors, alongside one HDMI and one VGA connector for legacy projectors. Three USB 3.0 ports provide ample peripheral connectivity, and Gigabit Ethernet ensures a wired network option. The box contains the laptop, a compatible charger and the internal battery. A 720p webcam is built in for video calls, while 802.11n wireless handles Wi-Fi.

Questions about this item

How is the M.2 NVMe SSD installed in the Latitude 5480, and which step do people often miss?

Remove the base cover, insert the 256 GB M.2 NVMe drive into the keyed slot at a slight angle, then secure it with the single retention screw before reassembling.

What maintenance or replacement will the 8 GB DDR4 memory need later?

The 8 GB DDR4 is soldered to the motherboard, so it cannot be upgraded or replaced; only a full board swap would change the memory capacity.

What limit appears first when the Core i5-7300U runs a sustained heavy workload?

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 reaches its thermal ceiling before the CPU, causing frame-rate drops in extended 3D tasks.
