14-inch Latitude 5480 for office work

This Dell Latitude 5480 is a 14.0-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor running at 2.6 GHz with a 3.4 GHz turbo frequency. It comes with 8GB of memory and a 500GB hard drive. The HD display has a 1366 x 768 resolution and integrated graphics. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed for professional use.

Check power, ports and screen expectations

Verify that the included AC adapter meets your regional power requirements and that the available ports match your peripherals. The non-touch HD panel delivers a 1366 x 768 resolution, so confirm this pixel density suits your workflow. Integrated graphics handle general business applications but are not intended for demanding 3D or video editing tasks.

Replaces older dual-core laptops

This unit upgrades from earlier dual-core notebooks that use slower hard drives and less memory. The jump is worthwhile when you need a responsive Windows 10 Pro system with 8GB RAM for multitasking, 802.11ac wireless connectivity and a durable gray chassis. Buyers who need a solid-state drive, a higher-resolution screen or discrete graphics should consider other models.

Questions about this item

Does the box include the charger and are there any essential extras to buy?

The unit ships with an AC adapter and a functional battery installed. Windows 10 Pro is pre-loaded and activated. No extra components are required to start working.

Should I pick the 8 GB memory with the 500 GB hard drive or look for a solid-state option?

This model comes fixed at 8 GB RAM and a 500 GB HDD; there is no SSD fitted. If faster boot and application loading matter, a later Latitude with an SSD would be the alternative.

What does the 3.4 GHz turbo figure actually deliver in everyday use?

The dual-core i7-6600U runs at 2.6 GHz base and can reach 3.4 GHz on short bursts. That gives snappy response for office apps and web browsing, while sustained heavy loads will settle nearer the base speed.
