Business ultraportable for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 12.5 inch laptop built for frequent travel and office docking. An Intel Core i5-8350U processor at 1.70 GHz and 8 GB of DDR4 memory run Windows 10 Pro on a 256 GB SSD. The 1366 x 768 anti-glare display and carbon-fibre reinforced lid keep weight low without sacrificing rigidity.

Upgrade from older dual-core ultrabooks

This unit replaces ageing 12 inch systems that max out at 8 GB of soldered memory and spinning drives. The two DDR4 slots support up to 32 GB, so the memory ceiling rises when workloads grow. The jump is worth it when you need a removable SSD, native DisplayPort over USB-C and a full-size HDMI 1.4 port for projectors.

Sustained office workloads on integrated graphics

Intel HD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory and drives external displays at 1080p through HDMI or USB-C. Thermal design keeps clock speeds steady during long document, browser and video-call sessions. The 200-nit panel remains readable indoors, while the 10/100/1000 Ethernet and dual-band wireless-ac 8265 maintain stable connectivity throughout the day.
