Ready-to-use business laptop

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14.0-inch Windows 10 Home notebook powered by an Intel Core i5 7300U running at 2.60GHz. It ships with 32GB of memory and a 1TB solid-state drive, so it handles office workloads and web multitasking without extra upgrades. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch panel. The unit is sold new and includes a 90-day warranty.

Included accessories and software

A matching AC adapter — either a new third-party unit or a tested OEM part — is supplied so the laptop can be powered immediately. Windows 10 Home arrives with a hard-disk-based recovery image already installed, allowing a clean system restore without downloading installation media. The integrated webcam and Bluetooth are functional out of the box for video calls and peripheral pairing.

Compatibility checklist

Confirm that your existing dock or monitor cables suit the ports available on this 5490 chassis, as the specification sheet lists no USB count. The 32GB memory fills both SODIMM slots, so further RAM expansion is not possible without removing modules. Buyers who need a discrete graphics processor, a touchscreen display or an optical drive should look at other models.

Questions about this item

Can the 32 GB of memory in this Latitude 5490 be upgraded later?

The system has two memory slots and 32 GB is already installed, so adding more would require replacing the existing modules.

What limits performance first when the Core i5-7300U runs at 2.6 GHz under a heavy load?

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 shares system memory and thermal headroom with the CPU, so graphics-intensive tasks hit that ceiling first.

How loud and hot does the 14.0 inch FHD laptop get when it runs all day on the 1 TB SSD?

With no mechanical drive and a low-power 2.6 GHz processor, fan noise stays low and surface temperatures remain moderate during extended use.
