Mobile workstation with quad-core U-series CPU

The Dell Latitude 5490 pairs an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with 8GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. A 14.0-inch HD display at 1366 x 768 resolution runs on integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed for business users who need a compact travel laptop.

15W TDP keeps heat and fan noise low

The 15W processor operates inside a slim chassis with passive-heavy cooling, so surface temperatures stay modest during office workloads. Fan activity remains quiet under typical document and browser use. The 1TB NVMe drive draws minimal power, helping extend battery runtime on the road.

HDMI and USB-C video ports drive external displays

One HDMI port and one USB-C port with DisplayPort alternate mode let you connect projectors or monitors without adapters. Three USB 3.0 Type-A sockets handle legacy peripherals. Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11n wireless cover wired and wireless networks. The box includes the laptop, charger and battery only.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 1TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD in the Latitude 5490?

The 1TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD is factory-installed in the M.2 slot; no user installation is required. If adding a second drive, open the base cover, align the notches on the M.2 card with the slot, press it in flat, and secure it with the single retention screw.

What maintenance or replacement will the 8GB DDR4 memory need later?

The 8GB DDR4 memory is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded or replaced; no maintenance is required. If capacity becomes insufficient, the only option is external storage or a new system.

What limit appears first on the Intel UHD Graphics 620 during sustained workloads?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares system memory and thermal headroom with the 15W i5-8350U; under sustained load the GPU clocks throttle first due to the shared cooling solution.
