Purpose-built 14-inch business laptop

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14.0-inch clamshell laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor running at 1.90 GHz with 8 MB cache. It comes with 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe PCIe M.2 solid-state drive. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch display uses integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed.

Mobile professionals needing core connectivity

This unit suits travellers and client-facing workers who rely on HDMI, VGA and a USB-C port with DisplayPort alternate mode for external displays, plus Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11 wireless for wired or wireless networking. Three USB 3.0 ports handle standard peripherals. Buyers who require a touchscreen, dedicated graphics, or more than 8 GB of memory should consider other configurations.

Quad-core U-series CPU with 15 W TDP

The i7-8650U is a 15 W four-core, eight-thread processor that determines the thermal envelope and sustained performance of the chassis. Its low-power design enables the slim profile and longer battery life noted for mobile use. If your workload demands higher sustained clock speeds or discrete graphics, this processor class will not meet those needs.
