Business laptop with 32GB DDR4

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14-inch business laptop running Windows 10 Pro. It uses an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 8MB cache and integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620. The system includes 32GB of DDR4 memory and a 2TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD for storage.

Suited for mobile professionals.

This configuration suits professionals who need a portable device for office applications, video calls and multi-monitor setups via HDMI and USB-C DisplayPort. The integrated graphics and 15W processor limit its usefulness for buyers who need discrete GPU performance for 3D rendering, video editing or modern gaming.

32GB DDR4 memory soldered configuration

The laptop provides 32GB of DDR4 memory in a compact 14-inch chassis with a 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. Connectivity includes three USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n wireless, HDMI, VGA and a USB-C port with DisplayPort alt mode. A 720p webcam supports video conferencing.

Questions about this item

How hot and loud does the Core i7-8650U get when the Latitude 5490 runs all day?

The processor is rated at 15 W, so sustained loads keep heat and fan noise modest for a 14-inch business laptop.

Which cables or docks must I already own to use the USB-C and video outputs?

Bring a USB-C cable that carries DisplayPort alt-mode for the USB-C port, plus an HDMI cable and a VGA cable if you need both legacy projectors.

Will my older USB 3.0 peripherals and Gigabit Ethernet dock work at full speed with this laptop?

Yes, the three USB 3.0 ports and the 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet jack run at their native speeds with existing devices.
