14" FHD business laptop

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14-inch Full HD laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 8 MB cache. It ships with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 2 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD running Windows 10 Pro. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display.

Mobile professionals needing quad-core speed

This configuration suits travellers and client-facing users who rely on HDMI, USB-C with DisplayPort, VGA and gigabit Ethernet for external displays and wired networks. The 15 W processor and lack of a discrete GPU mean buyers who need sustained heavy compute or dedicated graphics performance should look at something else.

2 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD capacity

The single specification that decides fit is the 2 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 solid-state drive, which provides large, fast storage for offline files and applications. If a workflow demands more than 2 TB of internal capacity or requires a second drive bay, this unit will not meet that need.

Questions about this item

Will the USB-C DisplayPort output work with my older monitors that only have HDMI or VGA inputs?

The laptop has one USB-C/DisplayPort, one HDMI and one VGA port, so you can connect directly to HDMI or VGA displays without needing the USB-C output for those older monitors.

How can I confirm the 16 GB DDR4 memory and 2 TB NVMe SSD are both recognised after first boot?

Open Task Manager and check the Performance tab — it will show 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 2 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD if both are detected correctly.

Does the package include anything besides the laptop, charger and battery, such as a docking station or external mouse?

The box contains only the laptop computer, its charger and the internal battery; any docking station, mouse or other peripherals must be purchased separately.
