Business laptop with quad-core i7

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14.0 inch business laptop running Windows 10 Pro. It uses an Intel Core i7-8650U processor with four cores reaching 4.20 GHz turbo frequency. Sixteen gigabytes of memory and a 256GB SSD provide responsive multitasking and fast boot times for office workloads.

Replaces older dual-core ultrabooks

Moving from a dual-core system to this quad-core Coffee Lake chip gives a clear jump in parallel throughput for spreadsheets, video calls and virtual machines. The upgrade is worth it when daily tasks stall on core count rather than graphics power, since the integrated graphics chip handles only basic display output.

Fits a mobile desk setup

At 1.60 kg and 20.3 mm thin the chassis slips into a standard sleeve. Ports include HDMI, DisplayPort over USB-C, VGA, RJ-45, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A, one USB 3.1 Gen 1 with PowerShare, an SD slot, audio combo jack and optional uSIM. The selection drives external monitors, wired LAN and peripherals without a dock, freeing bag space for travel.
