Latitude 5490 business laptop

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14.0-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 8MB cache. It ships with 32GB DDR4 memory and a 256GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD running Windows 10 Pro. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display.

Mobile professionals seeking long battery life

The 15W processor and efficient integrated graphics suit travellers and client-facing users who value portability and all-day runtime. Buyers who need discrete graphics performance, higher storage capacity or a touchscreen should look elsewhere.

32GB DDR4 memory configuration

The 32GB DDR4 configuration is the single spec that decides fit; it supports heavy multitasking and virtual machines without immediate upgrade pressure. If your workload demands more memory than 32GB, this unit will not meet the requirement.

Questions about this item

Will the 14" FHD screen and Intel UHD Graphics 620 drive my older VGA projector and HDMI monitor at the same time?

The laptop has one HDMI port and one VGA port; both can be active simultaneously for extended or mirrored desktop use.

How can I confirm the 32GB DDR4 memory and 256GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD are recognised after first boot?

Open Settings > System > About to see 32 GB installed RAM, then open Disk Management to verify a 256 GB NVMe drive appears with the correct capacity.

The box lists laptop, charger and battery — do I need to buy a USB-C video adapter or Ethernet dongle separately?

One USB-C/DisplayPort port is built in, so a USB-C video adapter is only needed for extra displays; Gigabit Ethernet is onboard, so no dongle is required for wired networking.
