Built for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 5520 is a 15.6 inch laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor with four cores reaching 4.4 GHz. It ships with 64GB of memory and a 1TB SSD running Windows 11 Pro. A dedicated NVIDIA GeForce MX450 GPU handles graphics duties. The non-touch FHD display shows 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Thermals noise and power

The chassis measures 19.87 mm thick and weighs 1.59 kg, leaving limited volume for airflow. The quad-core Tiger Lake CPU has a base frequency of 1.8 GHz and a turbo of 4.4 GHz, so sustained loads will raise temperatures and fan speeds. Thunderbolt 4 ports support power delivery, allowing charging through the same USB-C connectors used for data and video.

Graphics ceiling decides fit

The MX450 is an entry-level discrete card suited to light creative work and multi-monitor setups. Buyers who need higher GPU compute for rendering, simulation or modern gaming will find this graphics tier insufficient. The 64GB memory and 1TB storage are generous for general productivity, but the graphics silicon sets the practical limit.

Questions about this item

How is the RAM installed, and what step do people get wrong?

The 64 GB memory is factory-soldered and not user-upgradable, so the common mistake is buying a SO-DIMM kit expecting an empty slot.

What maintenance or replacement will the storage need later?

The 1 TB SSD is a removable M.2 drive; plan to replace it when write cycles approach the drive's rated endurance or capacity runs low.

What limit shows up first under sustained heavy workloads?

The GeForce MX450 450 GPU hits its thermal ceiling before the quad-core i7-1185G7, capping frame rates in extended render or compute sessions.
