Latitude 5520 with 11th Gen Core i7

The Dell Latitude 5520 is a 15.6 inch business laptop running Windows 11 Pro. It uses a four-core Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor with a 4.4 GHz turbo frequency. Integrated graphics drive the 1366 x 768 HD non-touch display. Sixteen gigabytes of memory and a 512 GB SSD handle everyday workloads.

Connectivity and expansion

Two Thunderbolt ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort alternate mode support external monitors and fast storage. HDMI 2.0 adds a second video output. USB 3.2 and USB 3.2 Powershare ports connect peripherals and charge devices. A microSD 4.0 card reader, RJ45 Ethernet, global headset jack, wedge lock slot and optional SmartCard reader complete the I/O. WLAN 802.11ac and Bluetooth provide wireless links.

Upgrade considerations

Buyers moving from a dual-core system or mechanical drive will notice faster multitasking and boot times. The 16 GB memory ceiling suits typical office suites and browser loads. Users who need a higher-resolution panel, discrete graphics or user-replaceable memory should evaluate other configurations.

Questions about this item

How long can the i7-1185G7 sustain its 4.4 GHz turbo before thermal limits throttle it?

The 4-core processor runs at a 1.8 GHz base and reaches 4.4 GHz with Turbo Boost; sustained turbo duration depends on the laptop's cooling capacity under load.

What are the fan noise and surface temperatures like when the laptop runs all day at full load?

The 15.6" chassis measures 0.78" thick and weighs 3.50 lb; integrated graphics and the 4-core CPU share thermal headroom, so extended heavy work will raise fan speed and keyboard deck temperature.

Which dock or adapter is required to drive two external monitors from the Thunderbolt ports?

Two Thunderbolt 4 with Power Delivery and DisplayPort (USB Type-C) ports are present; a compatible Thunderbolt dock or dual-display adapter connected to one or both ports will drive two external screens.
