Built for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 5540 is a 15.6-inch business laptop powered by a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-1355U processor with ten cores and twelve threads. It ships with 32GB of DDR4 memory and an 8TB PCIe NVMe SSD. The IPS display delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution at 60Hz. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Thunderbolt 4 and WiFi 6E expand connectivity

Two Thunderbolt 4 ports provide high-speed data, video output and charging through a single cable. WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 deliver modern wireless performance. The built-in RJ-45 jack adds wired Ethernet without a dongle. HDMI 2.0, a micro SD reader and a smart card reader complete the physical interface set.

Suits users who need massive local storage

The 8TB drive and 32GB RAM handle large datasets and heavy multitasking on the go. Buyers who require a dedicated graphics processor for rendering or gaming should look elsewhere. The non-touch screen and Windows 10 Pro loadout may not fit teams standardising on newer operating systems or pen input.

Questions about this item

Will the 8TB NVMe SSD need replacement under heavy write workloads?

The 8TB PCIe NVMe SSD is a solid-state drive with no moving parts; under typical business workloads it should not require replacement, though all flash storage has a finite write endurance.

What thermal limit appears first when the Core i7-1355U runs at 5 GHz for extended periods?

The 10-core, 12-thread processor will hit its thermal throttle point before the 65 W USB-C adapter reaches its output ceiling, so sustained turbo clocks are limited by the 54 Whr battery and cooling capacity.

How loud do the fans get when the 15.6" IPS panel and Thunderbolt 4 ports are active all day?

Fan noise rises under continuous load from the i7-1355U and dual Thunderbolt 4 traffic, but the 60 Hz non-touch display and integrated Iris Xe graphics keep baseline heat modest.
