Dual-drive business laptop

The Dell Latitude 5570 is a new 15.6-inch notebook built around a 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6820HQ quad-core processor running at 2.70 GHz with a maximum turbo of 3.60 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory in an 8 GB x 2 configuration and a dual-drive layout that pairs a 512 GB M.2 SSD with a 2.5-inch 1 TB hard drive. The non-touch FHD display resolves at 1920 x 1080 and is driven by Intel HD Graphics with Radeon support. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Mobile professionals needing storage

This unit suits users who want a traditional business chassis with a full complement of ports including VGA, HDMI, RJ-45, two USB 3.0 sockets, an SD 4.0 slot and a dock e-Port connector. The 5000 series frame measures 14.8 inches wide, 9.9 inches deep and 1.0 inch high at the front, weighing 4.61 lbs. Buyers who need a thinner ultraportable, a touchscreen, a dedicated graphics card or a single high-capacity SSD without a spinning drive should look at other form factors.

512 GB M.2 SSD plus 1 TB hard drive

The defining specification is the combined storage arrangement: a 512 GB M.2 solid-state drive for the operating system and applications paired with a 2.5-inch 1 TB mechanical drive for bulk data. This dual-drive design is fixed in this configuration; the M.2 slot is occupied and the 2.5-inch bay holds the hard drive, so total capacity and drive topology are set at purchase.

Questions about this item

Does the i7-6820HQ throttle at its 45 W TDP during long workloads?

The quad-core i7-6820HQ runs at a 45 W TDP with a base clock of 2.7 GHz and a maximum turbo of 3.6 GHz; sustained loads will hit that thermal ceiling and the chip will throttle to stay within it.

How loud and hot does the Latitude 5570 get when running all day?

The 15.6" chassis uses a single fan to cool the 45 W CPU and integrated Intel HD Graphics; expect noticeable fan noise and warm keyboard deck temperatures during continuous heavy use.

What memory modules are already installed so I know what to add later?

The system ships with 16 GB of DDR4 RAM configured as two 8 GB sticks, filling both SO-DIMM slots; maximum supported capacity is 32 GB.
