Compact business notebook

The Dell Latitude 7290 is a 12.5-inch full-HD laptop built around an 8th-generation quad-core Intel Core i5-8350U processor with integrated UHD Graphics 620. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory in a dual-channel 8 GB x 2 layout and a 256 GB PCIe M.2 SSD, running Windows 11 Pro out of the box.

Mobile professionals needing legacy ports

This configuration suits users who value a lightweight chassis with a traditional USB 3.0 pair and a USB-C port that carries DisplayPort video, plus wired Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1. Buyers who want a touchscreen, a larger display, discrete graphics or more than 16 GB of memory should look at other models.

16 GB soldered DDR4 limit

The memory is provided as two 8 GB DDR4 modules and the platform does not support expansion beyond 16 GB, so the installed capacity is also the maximum. Confirm that this ceiling meets your workload before purchase.

Questions about this item

How hot or loud does the i5-8350U get when the Latitude 7290 runs all day?

The quad-core i5-8350U operates at 1.7 GHz base and can boost to 3.6 GHz; integrated UHD 620 graphics share the same thermal envelope, so sustained loads stay within the ultrabook-class cooling design.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to use the USB Type-C port with DisplayPort on this 7290?

You need a USB-C to DisplayPort cable or a USB-C hub that carries DisplayPort Alt Mode; the port also supports USB 3.0 data and charging with standard USB-C accessories.

Will my older Bluetooth 4.1 headset and USB 3.0 flash drives work with this Latitude 7290?

Yes — the laptop includes Bluetooth 4.1 and a pair of USB 3.0 Type-A ports, so legacy headsets and thumb drives connect without adapters.
