Built for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 7290 is a 12.5-inch laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U processor running at 1.90 GHz. It comes with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD. The HD display offers a 1366 x 768 resolution driven by integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed for immediate deployment.

Connectivity for flexible workflows

Two USB 3.0 ports and a Thunderbolt USB-C port handle peripherals and high-speed data. An HDMI output connects to external displays or projectors for presentations. Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Bluetooth 4.2 keep the system online in offices or on the road. A microSD card reader adds removable storage without extra dongles.

Steady performance within thermal limits

The quad-core Kaby Lake R CPU and integrated graphics share a compact chassis designed for efficiency over peak speed. Under sustained load the processor will throttle to manage heat, so render times and compile jobs run longer than on larger workstations. The 128 GB drive fills quickly with large media libraries, requiring external storage for heavy datasets. Buyers needing discrete graphics or higher sustained clocks should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How far can the i7-8650U sustain its boost before thermal limits kick in?

The quad-core i7-8650U runs at a 1.9 GHz base with an 8 MB L2 cache; under sustained load the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares the same thermal envelope, so performance settles at the processor's rated limits.

What are the fan noise and surface temperatures during an all-day workload?

The 12.5-inch chassis uses a single fan to cool the 1.9 GHz quad-core CPU and integrated graphics; typical office use stays quiet, while continuous heavy tasks raise fan speed and warm the keyboard deck moderately.

Which peripherals or cables must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 3 port?

The USB Type-C port supports Thunderbolt 3 and carries video and data; you need a Thunderbolt 3 cable or dock, or a USB-C monitor, to drive external displays or high-speed storage.
