Mobile workstation for travelling professionals

The Dell Latitude 7290 is a 12.5 inch laptop built around a quad-core Intel Core i7-8650U processor running at 1.9 GHz with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe solid-state drive. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1366 x 768 HD display. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed. The compact chassis targets users who need full productivity away from a desk.

Verify ports, power and OS requirements

Confirm that your peripherals match the two USB 3.0 ports, single HDMI output and Thunderbolt 3 USB-C connection. The Gigabit Ethernet jack, microSD reader and 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Bluetooth 4.2 handle wired and wireless links. Check that your software runs on Windows 10 Home 64-bit and that the 65 W-class charger supplied meets your regional voltage.

Steady performance within a thin thermal envelope

Under continuous load the U-series processor maintains base clocks rather than sustaining peak turbo, so extended compiles or large spreadsheet recalculations run at consistent but moderated speeds. The integrated graphics share system memory, limiting prolonged 3D or video-encode throughput. Fan noise rises gradually as the unibody chassis dissipates heat through its limited surface area.
