Compact business ultraportable

The Dell Latitude 7290 is a 12.5-inch laptop built for professionals who need a lightweight Windows 10 Pro machine for daily office tasks, web browsing and video calls. Its quad-core Intel Core i5-8350U processor runs at 1.7 GHz with a 3.6 GHz boost, paired with 16 GB of DDR4 memory at 2400 MHz for smooth multitasking across typical business applications.

Integrated graphics and connectivity

The Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles the 1366 x 768 HD anti-glare display without a discrete GPU, keeping power draw low for extended battery life. Wireless connectivity uses Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) on dual-band 2.4 and 5 GHz plus Bluetooth 4.2, while a single USB port, Ethernet and a headset jack cover essential wired peripherals.

Storage capacity and practical limits

The 256 GB SATA M.2 SSD provides fast boot and application loading for the operating system and a moderate document library, but leaves little room for large media archives or virtual machines. Buyers who need more storage or additional USB ports for docks and external drives should consider a different chassis.

Questions about this item

Will the 256GB SATA M.2 SSD need replacement if I store large project files?

The 256GB SATA M.2 SSD provides fixed internal storage; adding large project files will reduce free space but does not wear out the drive faster than normal use.

Does the i5-8350U quad-core processor hit a thermal limit before the 16GB DDR4 2400MHz memory fills up?

Under sustained multi-core workloads the processor reduces its boost clocks to stay within its thermal envelope, which typically occurs before the 16GB DDR4 2400MHz memory becomes a bottleneck.

How loud does the fan get when the Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 12.5-inch 1366 x 768 display all day?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares the system cooling; during extended video playback or web browsing the fan spins up intermittently but remains at a low office-friendly noise level.
