Compact Business Laptop

The Dell Latitude 7290 is a 12.5 inch laptop built for professionals who need a lightweight Windows 10 Pro machine. It runs on an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor at 1.9 GHz with 16 GB of DDR4 memory. The 1366 x 768 HD display is non-touch and suited for office applications and travel.

Connectivity and Expansion

Two USB 3.0 ports handle standard peripherals while the Thunderbolt USB-C port adds high-speed data and video output options. A full-size HDMI port connects directly to projectors or external monitors for presentations. Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Bluetooth 4.2 cover wired and wireless networking needs. The microSD card reader offers quick access to removable media without extra adapters.

Storage and Graphics Headroom

The 512 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD provides fast boot times and responsive application loading for typical business workloads. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the internal screen and supports external displays through HDMI or USB-C. Heavy 3D rendering, modern gaming or intensive video editing will exceed the capabilities of the integrated graphics and the fixed 16 GB memory configuration.

Questions about this item

Will the Intel Core i7-8650U throttle under sustained heavy workloads?

The quad-core processor has an 8 MB L2 cache and a base speed of 1.9 GHz; thermal limits of the 12.5 inch chassis typically cap extended turbo performance.

How hot and loud does the laptop get when running all day?

Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 and the low-power CPU keep heat modest; fan noise rises during long loads but stays within office-tolerable levels.

What must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 3 port for external displays?

A Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C monitor cable, or a Thunderbolt 3 dock, is required; the port also carries DisplayPort video and power delivery.
