Product identity

The Dell Latitude 7390 is a 13.3-inch 2-in-1 laptop with a flip design that converts between laptop, tent, stand and media modes. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an 8th generation Intel Core i7-8650U processor with four cores and eight threads, supported by 16 GB of onboard DDR4 memory and a 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD.

Who it suits

Professionals who need a portable touchscreen device for note-taking with an optional active pen, video calls via the integrated webcam and secure login through an optional infrared camera for Windows Hello. Buyers who require a dedicated graphics card, user-replaceable memory modules or a larger display should consider other form factors.

Deciding specification

The single specification that determines suitability is the 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD combined with 16 GB of soldered DDR4 memory, because neither storage nor RAM can be upgraded after purchase.

Questions about this item

How do I install the optional Wacom active pen so it attaches magnetically to the 13.3" touchscreen?

The active pen pairs via Bluetooth 4.2 and then snaps to the magnetic edge of the convertible chassis; no driver install is required on Windows 10 Pro.

Which component will need replacement first — the 512 GB NVMe SSD or the 16 GB DDR4 memory?

The soldered 16 GB DDR4 cannot be upgraded, so the replaceable M.2 512 GB NVMe SSD is the only storage part you can swap later.

At what clock speed does the i7-8650U throttle during long workloads?

The quad-core processor runs at a 1.9 GHz base and can reach 4.2 GHz with Turbo Boost; sustained loads will settle at the base frequency once thermal limits are met.
