Dell Latitude 7390 Ultrabook

The Dell Latitude 7390 is a 13.3 inch FHD touchscreen ultrabook running Windows 10 Pro. It uses an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with Intel UHD Graphics 620. Storage is a 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD paired with 8GB DDR4 memory.

Suited for mobile professionals needing touch input

This device suits professionals who want a light chassis with touch and active pen support for note-taking. It does not suit buyers who need a discrete graphics card for heavy 3D work or gaming. It also does not suit users who require more than 8GB of system memory for large datasets or virtual machines.

1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD capacity

The single specification that decides fit is the 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. This drive format and capacity determine whether the laptop can hold your project library and boot drive without external storage. The 8GB DDR4 memory is soldered and not upgradeable, so capacity is fixed at purchase.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 8 GB DDR4 configuration or upgrade to the 32 GB DDR4 maximum?

The unit ships with 8 GB DDR4 soldered memory and supports up to 32 GB DDR4 total, so choose 8 GB for light office work or the higher capacity if you run virtual machines or large datasets.

What does the i7-8650U's 1.9 GHz base and 4.2 GHz turbo mean for everyday speed?

The quad-core processor runs at 1.9 GHz for routine tasks and boosts to 4.2 GHz on short bursts, giving snappy responsiveness in Windows 10 Pro and web apps while staying cool in the ultrabook chassis.

Which ports are USB 3.1 Gen 1 and what bandwidth do they actually deliver?

Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports and one USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 port with DisplayPort alt-mode each provide 5 Gbps throughput for peripherals and external displays.
