Business laptop with 32 GB DDR4

The Dell Latitude 7400 is a 14.0-inch business laptop running Windows 11 Pro on an 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8665U processor. It provides 32 GB of DDR4 memory at 1866 MT/s and a 512 GB PCIe NVMe solid-state drive. The non-touch FHD display measures 1920 x 1080 with an anti-glare finish. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics handles visual output.

Thermals and 65 W adapter

A 4-cell 60 Wh battery powers the system alongside a 65 W AC adapter with a 7.4 mm barrel connector. The chassis measures 12.65 x 8.42 x 0.7 inches and weighs 3.6 lbs. Intel UHD Graphics and the low-power processor keep heat and fan noise modest during typical office workloads. The 65 W supply covers charging and operation without extra headroom.

IR camera fingerprint reader Thunderbolt 3

An IR webcam enables Windows Hello facial recognition and a fingerprint reader adds a second biometric factor. A backlit keyboard assists typing in low light. Ports include two USB Type-A 3.1 Gen 1, one Thunderbolt 3 with DisplayPort and Power Delivery, one HDMI 1.4 and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Wireless uses Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 9560 with Bluetooth 5.0.

Questions about this item

How do I install the M.2 NVMe SSD and what step is commonly missed?

The 512 GB PCIe M.2 NVMe drive slots into the internal M.2 connector and is held by a single screw; the step often missed is re-enabling the NVMe controller in BIOS after the physical install.

Which component will need replacement first and what spec should I match?

The 4-cell 60 WHr battery will degrade first; replace it with a Dell 4-cell 60 WHr pack to keep the original runtime and fit.

What thermal limit appears first during a long heavy workload?

The i7-8665U hits its 4.80 GHz turbo ceiling and then throttles to the 1.9 GHz base clock once the 65 W adapter can no longer sustain peak power.
