Rugged 14" touchscreen laptop for field work

The Dell Latitude 7414 Rugged is a 14.0 inch notebook built with shock-absorbent materials and compression-sealed against sand, dust and liquids. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor with 16GB DDR4 memory and a 512GB SATA SSD. The HD touch display and sealed backlit keyboard suit outdoor or industrial use.

1366 x 768 HD touch display

The screen measures 14.0 inches diagonally and delivers a 1366 x 768 HD resolution with touch input. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 uses shared system memory for video. This resolution fits the panel size for readable text in bright conditions while keeping power draw low for battery life.

Sustained load on dual-core Skylake CPU

The i7-6600U runs at 2.60 GHz base with a 3.40 GHz turbo frequency and 4 MB smart cache. Under prolonged workloads the dual-core design and shared graphics memory limit peak throughput compared to quad-core alternatives. Thermal constraints in the sealed chassis mean clocks settle below maximum turbo during extended compute tasks.

Questions about this item

How does the 2.60 GHz base speed with 3.40 GHz turbo affect everyday workloads on this i7-6600U?

The dual-core processor runs at 2.60 GHz and can boost to 3.40 GHz for short bursts, handling office apps, web browsing and light multitasking smoothly within its 4 MB cache.

What practical throughput can I expect from the USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports?

Three USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port are available; the USB 2.0 port tops out at its standard rate while the USB 3.0 ports run at their native speed.

Will the 14.02 x 9.72 x 2.05 inch chassis fit in a standard 14-inch laptop sleeve?

The rugged chassis measures 14.02 x 9.72 x 2.05 inches and weighs 7.8 lbs, so a sleeve sized for a typical thin 14-inch notebook will be too tight.
