Business Ultraportable

The DELL Latitude 7420 is a 13.9-inch laptop built for professionals who need reliable performance in a compact form. Its 11th Generation Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor runs at 3.00 GHz, supported by 16GB of memory and a 256GB NVMe SSD. Windows 10 Pro provides a familiar, secure environment for managed deployments.

Thermals and Power

The slim chassis manages heat from the quad-core processor during typical office workloads such as document editing, video calls and web browsing. Fan noise remains low during these tasks, and the included AC adapter supplies sufficient power for daily use without drawing excessive current from the wall.

Sustained Workloads

Under prolonged heavy loads like large dataset processing or extended rendering, the thermal solution will throttle clock speeds to protect the silicon, so peak frequencies cannot be held indefinitely. Buyers who need consistent maximum throughput for hours at a time should consider a larger workstation-class machine.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256GB NVMe drive and what step is often missed?

The 256GB NVMe drive comes factory-installed in the M.2 slot; the step people miss is ensuring the retention screw is tightened after seating the drive to prevent connection issues.

What maintenance will the 16GB memory need later?

The 16GB memory is soldered and not user-replaceable, so no routine maintenance is required; if a fault occurs, the mainboard must be serviced.

What limit appears first during sustained loads on the Core i7-1185G7 at 3.00 GHz?

Thermal throttling on the Core i7-1185G7 at 3.00 GHz typically appears first during sustained loads, reducing clock speeds to manage heat.
