Business-ready 14-inch laptop

The Dell Latitude 7420 is a 14.0-inch notebook built for professional workloads. It runs Windows 11 Pro on an Intel Core i5-1145G7 quad-core processor with a base clock of 2.6 GHz and a maximum turbo of 4.4 GHz. The system includes 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe solid-state drive. A carbon-fibre chassis keeps the device light for daily mobility.

Ports and input features

Connectivity covers one USB 3.2 port, two USB-C ports, an HDMI output and a micro SD card reader for peripheral flexibility. A backlit keyboard and precision touchpad support comfortable typing in low-light conditions. The integrated webcam and microphone handle video calls, while dual speakers with Waves MaxxAudio provide clear sound for conferences and media playback.

16 GB DDR4 memory ceiling

The soldered 16 GB DDR4 configuration cannot be upgraded, so buyers who need more memory for heavy virtualisation or large datasets must choose a different model. The 512 GB NVMe drive and Iris Xe graphics suit standard office applications and light creative tasks. Non-touch Full HD display at 1920 x 1080 delivers sharp text without the gloss of a touchscreen layer.

Questions about this item

Is the 16 GB DDR4 memory soldered or can I upgrade it later?

The 16 GB DDR4 is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded.

Will the Core i5-1145G7 hit its thermal limit before the Iris Xe GPU maxes out during long renders?

Yes, the 4.4 GHz boost is limited by the cooling solution, so CPU clocks drop first under sustained load.

How loud do the fans get and what is the surface temperature when the 2.6 GHz quad-core runs flat out all day?

Fans spin up to an audible but not intrusive level and the carbon-fibre chassis stays warm rather than hot during continuous use.
