Dell Latitude 7420 14" Touch Laptop

The Dell Latitude 7420 is a 14.0 inch touchscreen laptop running Windows 11 Pro. It uses an Intel Core i5 11th Gen processor with a minimum speed of 2.40GHz and Intel Iris Xe Graphics. The system includes 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD.

Suits mobile professionals needing touch input

This configuration suits users who want a 14 inch Full HD touch display with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage in a business chassis. Buyers who need upgradeable memory should look elsewhere because the memory slots total zero. Those requiring a discrete GPU or a dedicated numeric keypad will not find them here.

Sustained workload behaviour

Under continuous load the 11th Gen Core i5 maintains its 2.40GHz base frequency while Iris Xe graphics share system memory. The integrated cooling manages thermals for typical office tasks and light content work. Extended heavy compute or render sessions will throttle performance as the chassis reaches its thermal limits.

Questions about this item

Does this laptop need any extra memory modules to reach its 16 GB specification?

The 16 GB of RAM is already installed and there are no free memory slots, so no additional modules are required or possible.

Can the Intel Core i5 11th Gen processor run the same Windows 11 Pro image that came on an older 10th Gen Latitude?

Yes, the pre-installed Windows 11 Pro recovery image is tied to this machine and will reinstall cleanly on the 11th Gen hardware.

How can I confirm the 512 GB SSD is recognised at its full usable capacity after first boot?

Open Settings > System > Storage and verify the drive shows between 480 GB and 512 GB of total space, which is the expected range for this SSD.
