Product purpose

The Dell Latitude 7420 2-in-1 is a 14-inch business convertible running Windows 11 Pro on an 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1185G7 with 16GB DDR4 1866 memory and a 512GB PCIe SSD. Its touchscreen and 300-nit anti-glare panel suit mobile professionals who need a single device for desk work and on-the-go presentations.

Ideal buyer and limits

This unit fits users who want a lightweight carbon-fibre chassis, IR webcam, fingerprint reader and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity for docks or external displays. Buyers who need discrete graphics for 3D rendering, a larger display for multi-window coding, or user-replaceable memory should consider other form factors.

Deciding specification

The integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics share system memory, so the 16GB DDR4 1866 configuration determines whether the laptop handles your daily workload or forces you to step up to a model with dedicated video memory.

Questions about this item

What does the 4.8GHz boost clock on the i7-1185G7 mean for everyday workloads?

The processor can reach 4.8GHz for short bursts when thermal headroom allows, speeding up single-threaded tasks such as spreadsheet recalculations or app launches before returning to the 3.0GHz base.

What external displays can the Thunderbolt 4 ports drive?

Each Thunderbolt 4 port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, so you can connect one 8K or two 4K monitors, and the HDMI 2.0 port adds a third 4K 60Hz output.

Will a standard laptop sleeve fit the 12.65 x 8.22 inch chassis?

Yes, the 12.65 x 8.22 inch footprint matches typical 14-inch sleeves, and the 0.68 inch profile slides easily into most padded compartments.
