Business laptop for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 7420 is a 14-inch Windows 11 Pro notebook built around an Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor with four cores and a 4.70 GHz turbo frequency. Sixteen gigabytes of memory and a 256 GB SSD provide responsive multitasking and fast boot times. The non-touch FHD panel resolves 1920 x 1080 for clear text and video calls.

Thermals and power in daily use

A carbon-fibre chassis measuring 0.68 inches thick and weighing 2.70 lb helps dissipate heat from the 11th Gen CPU during typical office workloads. Integrated graphics keep power draw modest compared with discrete solutions, so fan noise stays low during document editing or video conferencing. Thunderbolt 4 ports support Power Delivery for flexible charging.

Ports and bundled software value

Two Thunderbolt 4 connections, HDMI 2.0, USB 3.2 Gen 1 with PowerShare, a universal audio jack, a uSD 4.0 card reader and an optional uSIM slot cover most peripheral needs without dongles. Windows 11 Pro adds BitLocker encryption and remote management features that IT teams rely on for fleet deployment and security compliance.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256 GB SSD in the Latitude 7420, and what step is often missed?

The SSD is already fitted. The step people miss is enabling BitLocker in Windows 11 Pro after first boot so the drive is encrypted from day one.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16 GB memory need later?

The 16 GB is soldered and cannot be upgraded. The only later action is a Windows 11 Pro reinstall if the system drive is replaced.

What limit appears first on the Core i7-1165G7 during sustained loads?

The integrated graphics share system memory, so extended heavy rendering hits the 16 GB RAM ceiling before the 4.7 GHz turbo can be sustained.
