Rugged 14-inch FHD laptop for field work

The Dell Latitude 7424 is a rugged laptop built for business users who need a durable computer that withstands everyday use. It runs Windows 10 Professional on an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with a base clock of 1.7 GHz and turbo up to 2.8 GHz. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles the 14.0-inch 1920x1080 non-touch display.

Ports and expansion for mobile connectivity

One USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port supports PowerShare and wake-up, alongside two additional USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports. A USB Type-C port provides DisplayPort Alt Mode, USB 3.1 Gen 2 and Power Delivery. The chassis also includes a docking port, universal audio jack, HDMI 2.0 and RJ-45. Wireless uses Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 with Bluetooth 4.2, while wired Ethernet runs through an Intel i219LM controller.

Sustained performance with 16 GB DDR4

The system ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory, expandable to 32 GB, and a 256 GB solid-state drive. The quad-core processor maintains clocks under load within the rugged thermal design. Integrated graphics suit productivity and video playback rather than heavy 3D rendering. Buyers who need discrete GPU power or larger internal storage should consider other configurations.

Questions about this item

Will the i5-8350U throttle to its 1.7 GHz base speed during long workloads?

The quad-core i5-8350U runs at 1.7 GHz base and can reach 2.8 GHz with Turbo Boost, so sustained loads may settle at the lower frequency once thermal limits are reached.

How loud and hot does the Latitude 7424 get when running all day?

The rugged chassis is built to dissipate heat from the i5-8350U and Intel UHD Graphics 620 without a noisy fan profile, keeping surface temperatures comfortable for desk or field use.

What peripherals do I already need to connect to the USB-C DisplayPort Alt mode port?

You need a monitor or dock that accepts DisplayPort Alt mode over USB-C, plus a compatible USB-C cable, to drive external video and receive Power Delivery.
