Professional Ultrabook for Business Travel

The Dell Latitude 7480 is a 14.0 inch Full HD laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6600U processor running at 2.60 GHz with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB SSD. It ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and uses integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 with shared system memory. The anti-glare WLED display offers 300 nits brightness in a magnesium alloy chassis weighing 3.0100 kg.

Suited for Mobile Office Work.

This configuration suits professionals who need a durable, portable machine for email, documents, video calls and light multitasking on the move. Buyers who want discrete graphics for video editing, 3D rendering or gaming should look at something else. The two memory slots support up to 32 GB DDR4 for future upgrades, but the integrated graphics limit visual performance.

256 GB SSD and Integrated Graphics Define the Use

The single specification that decides fit is the combination of a 256 GB solid-state drive and Intel HD Graphics 520 using shared memory. This provides fast boot and application launch for typical business software while restricting the system to integrated graphics performance. Connectivity includes HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort over USB Type-C, three USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Bluetooth 4.1.

Questions about this item

How do I install a second DDR4 stick in the two memory slots, and which slot do people forget to seat fully?

Open the base cover, insert the module at an angle into the empty slot until the clips click, then press down firmly; the lower slot is often not pressed home completely.

Which user-replaceable part will need attention first — the 256 GB SSD or the Lithium Ion battery?

The Lithium Ion battery is only guaranteed to hold a charge, so it will likely need replacement before the 256 GB SSD wears out.

What thermal limit appears first on the Intel HD Graphics 520 during a long 1920 x 1080 workload?

The shared system memory and integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 hit thermal throttling before the CPU reaches its own limit.
