Compact business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14-inch notebook built for mobile professionals who need a reliable Windows 10 Pro machine. It ships with an Intel Core i5 8th Gen processor running at 1.60 GHz, 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB SSD for fast boot and application load times.

Sustained workload behaviour

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory, so extended graphical tasks will draw from the 8 GB RAM pool. Thermal management in the slim chassis is designed for typical office workloads rather than continuous heavy compute or rendering sessions.

Pre-purchase checks

Verify that 8 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage meet your application requirements, as the unit has two memory slots supporting up to 32 GB total. Confirm that a non-touch 1920 x 1080 display, single HDMI output and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity suit your peripheral and docking needs.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the Intel Core i5 8th Gen 1.60 GHz processor get under sustained load?

The Intel UHD Graphics 620 and 1.6 GHz CPU share system memory, so heat output stays moderate for typical office workloads; fan noise rises only during prolonged heavy tasks.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to use the single HDMI output and Bluetooth 4.1?

You need an HDMI cable for external displays and Bluetooth 4.1-compatible devices such as mice, keyboards or headphones; the laptop includes a functional AC adapter.

Will my existing DDR4 memory modules work if I upgrade the two slots to the 32 GB maximum?

Yes, the system uses DDR4 SO-DIMMs across both slots, so compatible DDR4 sticks you already own can be installed up to the 32 GB limit.
