Business ultraportable with 14-inch FHD display

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14-inch business laptop built for professionals who need a compact Windows 10 Pro machine. An Intel Core i7-8650U processor running at 1.90 GHz works with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB SSD. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory for everyday visual tasks.

Two memory slots allow expansion to 32 GB

The system ships with 16 GB installed across two slots, leaving room to reach the 32 GB maximum if workloads demand more headroom. A full-size backlit keyboard and a combined touchpad and track stick provide input flexibility without external peripherals. Connectivity includes HDMI 1.4, three USB 3.1 Gen1 ports, DisplayPort over USB Type-C, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac dual-band wireless and Bluetooth 4.1 for docks, displays and networks.

Suits mobile workers needing a light 14-inch

Buyers who want a 1.4 kg-class chassis with a 1920 x 1080 anti-glare screen, integrated graphics and guaranteed battery charge will find it practical. Those who require discrete graphics, a touchscreen, an optical drive or memory beyond 32 GB should look at alternative configurations.

Questions about this item

How long does the 512 GB SSD keep its write speed before thermal throttling?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares system memory and has no dedicated VRAM, so sustained GPU workloads are limited by the 16 GB DDR4 pool and shared thermal budget with the i7-8650U.

What is the fan noise and surface temperature after hours of continuous load?

Under sustained load the i7-8650U and integrated graphics share a single cooling solution in the 14.0 inch chassis; the magnesium-alloy lid helps spread heat but the keyboard deck will warm noticeably.

Which dock or power adapter must I already own to run this Latitude 7490?

The laptop charges via the proprietary DC-in jack and also accepts DisplayPort over USB Type-C, so an existing Dell barrel-tip charger or a USB-C PD source with DisplayPort alt-mode will power it.
