Business-grade 14 laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0-inch laptop built for professionals who need a compact Windows 11 Pro device with an 8th-generation Intel Core i7-8650U processor. Its quad-core design runs at 1.90 GHz with a 4.2 GHz turbo boost, suited to office applications and mobile workflows.

Thunderbolt 3 single-port limit

One Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port handles video, data and docking, so only a single high-speed peripheral chain can run at full bandwidth. HDMI and three USB 3.0 ports cover legacy displays and accessories, while Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac Wi-Fi handle wired and wireless networking.

8 GB memory and 512 GB NVMe headroom

8 GB of DDR4 and a 512 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD provide responsive multitasking for typical business loads. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory, limiting 3D performance and leaving no room for memory upgrades beyond the factory configuration.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 512 GB NVMe drive or look for a larger capacity?

The 512 GB NVMe PCIe SSD is the only storage option listed for this Latitude 7490, so it is the capacity you will receive.

What does the 4.2 GHz turbo figure mean for everyday work?

The Core i7-8650U can boost from its 1.9 GHz base up to 4.2 GHz on short bursts, giving snappy response in office apps and web browsing before thermal limits bring clocks back down.

What can the Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port actually drive?

The Thunderbolt 3 port supports video output, data transfer and charging through compatible docks, monitors or projectors, using the single USB-C connector on the chassis.
