Business-grade ultraportable

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch touchscreen laptop built for professionals who need a compact Windows 10 Pro machine. It combines an Intel Core i7-8650U processor running at 1.9 GHz with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 2 TB NVMe PCIe solid-state drive. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles everyday visual tasks on the 1920 x 1080 Full HD display.

Connectivity and expansion

A USB Type-C port and an HDMI output let you attach external monitors, docks or projectors without extra adapters. The built-in webcam supports video calls straight out of the box, while the large NVMe drive removes the need for secondary storage devices. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed so the system is ready for domain join and encryption features immediately.

Sustained workload behaviour

The quad-core Kaby Lake R CPU with 8 MB of L2 cache maintains consistent frequencies during long document, browser or spreadsheet sessions. Integrated graphics share system memory but avoid the thermal spikes of discrete chips, keeping the chassis stable under continuous office loads. The 2000 GB SSD sustains read and write speeds without the slowdown seen on smaller drives when nearly full.

Questions about this item

What limits performance first during long workloads on the Core i7-8650U?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 and 16 GB DDR4 memory set the ceiling for sustained graphical and multitasking throughput.

How loud or hot does the 14.0" touchscreen chassis get under all-day load?

The quad-core 1.90 GHz processor and integrated graphics run within a slim 14.0" body, so fans become audible and the keyboard deck warms up during extended use.

Which peripherals must I already own to use the FHD touchscreen and NVMe storage?

The 1920 x 1080 touchscreen works with no extra hardware, and the 2 TB NVMe drive is installed internally; only a power adapter is required to start.
