Purpose-built mobile workstation

The Dell Latitude 7490 combines an Intel Core i7-8650U processor running at 1.9GHz with 16GB of memory and a 512GB solid-state drive. It targets professionals who need reliable performance for office applications, web-based workflows and light content creation while travelling.

Chassis and daily connectivity

A 14.0-inch frame measuring 13.03 by 8.7 by 0.70 inches houses a non-backlit keyboard and an integrated card reader for quick media transfer. Video output is handled by a single HDMI port, while the 1920 x 1080 panel is driven by Intel UHD Graphics. Battery life reaches up to 10 hours on a single charge.

Deciding specification

The quad-core i7-8650U processor determines whether this unit suits your workload; it delivers four cores for multitasking but lacks the higher core counts required for sustained heavy rendering or virtualization. Buyers who need more compute threads or discrete graphics should look elsewhere.
