Business ultraportable

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14-inch business laptop built for professionals who need a compact, durable machine for daily office tasks and frequent travel. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with a 1.9 GHz base clock and 4.2 GHz turbo boost, supported by 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD.

Mobile workers vs stationary power users

This configuration suits consultants, sales teams and remote employees who value portability, a Full HD non-touch display, Thunderbolt 3 docking and HDMI output for presentations. Buyers who need a discrete graphics card for rendering, a larger screen for multi-window work, or more local storage capacity should look at a different class of device.

Storage capacity

The 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD determines how much software and data can reside on the laptop without external drives or cloud sync. If your workflow requires several hundred gigabytes of local files, this capacity will be a limiting factor.

Questions about this item

How does the 1.9 GHz base clock of the i7-8650U feel in everyday work?

The quad-core processor runs at 1.9 GHz base and can reach 4.2 GHz Turbo Boost, so office apps and web browsing stay snappy while the chip drops back to save power when idle.

What does the Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port actually let me connect?

The USB-C port carries Thunderbolt 3, so you can drive external displays, attach high-speed storage or dock the laptop with a single cable.

Will a standard 2.5-inch drive fit inside if I need more space?

Storage is an M.2 SATA SSD only; there is no 2.5-inch bay, so extra capacity means swapping the M.2 module or using external drives.
