Business-ready 14.0" laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch notebook built around an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor running at 1.9GHz. It ships with 16GB DDR4 memory and a 256GB solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed for immediate deployment in managed environments.

Sturdy chassis with dual USB-C ports

The black and slate body houses four USB ports, two of which are USB-C, plus an HDMI output and a combined headphone and microphone jack. Integrated 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth handle wireless peripherals and network access. A non-touch 1920 x 1080 display keeps glare low during long sessions.

Upgrade from dual-core ultraportables

Moving from a dual-core machine to this quad-core CPU delivers smoother multitasking across browser tabs, office suites and video calls. The 16GB DDR4 capacity removes the need for immediate memory expansion. Buyers who want more storage or discrete graphics should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What display outputs does the single HDMI port on the Latitude 7490 actually drive?

The HDMI port connects to the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 and will mirror or extend the built-in 1920 x 1080 panel to an external monitor.

Which physical slots and bays must be free to add storage or memory inside this 14.0 inch chassis?

The 256 GB SSD occupies the M.2 slot and the 16 GB DDR4 fills both SODIMM sockets, so no internal expansion is possible without removing existing parts.

What BIOS setting often blocks a clean Windows 10 Pro reinstall on this model?

Secure Boot must be disabled and the boot mode switched to UEFI before the installer will recognise the USB media.
